“Over the course of creating this album, I’ve grown so much as an artist, father and friend, and Book of Nabeel really captures that evolution,” says Poo Bear. “Each track began as a poem written by my good friend Nabeel from different parts of his life. It was an exciting and fun exercise bringing these poems to life with music. I’m excited to finally share them with the world. We poured our hearts and minds into this album and I hope our listeners can find sanctuary in these songs.”

On Book of Nabeel, it’s Poo Bear’s turn to enter the limelight he’s helped create for other artists over the past three decades with chart-topping bangers like “Despacito (Remix)” [feat. Justin Bieber] ” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, “Peaches and Cream” by 112 and “The Distance” by Mariah Carey.” The tracklist effortlessly weaves between melodic love letters to his family (“Favorite Human,” “Tamara”), sexy soon-to-be dance hits (“Pretense,” “Wolf Hour”), and soulful R&B ballads (“The Day You Left,” “Under The Flame”). Ultimately,Book of Nabeel is evidence of Poo Bear’s versatility as a songwriter and helps contextualize the “man behind the music” for fans of his previous songwriting.

Streaks of color light up the screen as Poo Bear makes his way through a vibrant Miami neighborhood, singing about his favorite human–his guiding light–over a bouncy, tropical beat. Scenes of folks of all shapes and sizes showing their adoration for each other are interpolated with playful dance sequences. Overall, “Favorite Human” encapsulates the joy and comfort of love felt in both romance and among communities.
