South African Rapper AKA Gunned Down In Durban
Rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting on Florida Road on Friday night, according to police sources in Durban. Another person, who is thought to be AKA’s bodyguard, was also injured. In addition, a third unnamed individual, said to be AKA’s close friend, was shot and killed. Although the provincial police had not yet made an official statement regarding the killings, IOL has independently verified this information from reliable police sources; these sources cannot be named since they are not allowed to speak to the media.
AKA was reportedly killed in a drive-by gunshot while standing outside the Wish Restaurant. It’s believed that soon before 10 o’clock, two unidentified automobiles rolled up, and the shooting began. When an IOL team arrived at the location on Friday night, police had already blocked off the area. Startled customers at a neighboring eatery who spoke to IOL reported AKA was shot while standing outside Wish.
Florida Road has been closed off following the shooting incident on Florida Road, where two persons have been confirmed dead, according to Garrith Jamieson, a spokesman for ALS Paramedics. According to Jamieson, a “famous rapper” was reportedly among the dead. At this point, it is unclear who the second victim of gunfire was; however, it is believed that he was a close friend of AKA.
According to social media posts, AKA was scheduled to perform at the Durban nightclub YUGO as part of his birthday celebrations.
