State Of California Honors Olamide, Asake, & Fireboy For Their Contributions To Afrobeats Music

Olamide Adedeji, better known as Olamide Baddo, is a Nigerian rapper who founded the Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) record label. He recently received special notice alongside artists like Asake and Fireboy DML. The State of California recently recognized the Nigerian superstars’ enormous contribution to popularizing the Afrobeats genre worldwide.

Going to Instagram, Matt Haney, a representative who submitted a commendation on behalf of the State of California and Assembly District 17, showered the group with admiration for their tremendous efforts in establishing Afrobeats’ music trends worldwide. In addition, Matt expressed his love for Fireboy and referred to his smash hit “Peru,” quoting a line from it that highlighted San Fransisco, the city they were receiving the awards in.

Baddo and his signees have been doing the lord’s work for the Afrobeat sound. Everyone already knows the amount and quality of work, time, and dedication the OG Olamide has put in and even introduced new talents into the game, which is why he is most respected. Now he is reaping the fruits of his labor while teaching his signees how it’s done.
