Show promoter Olisa Adibua has given some clues about what went down at the “failed” Burna boy show in Wonderland, Lagos, absolving himself from any wrongdoing.
Burna boy had arrived late for the show and was reportedly condescending towards concertgoers who had faulted his late arrival for the event. The “Africa Giant” had blamed the organizers as well as Olisa Adibua for the poor organization.
However, in a statement shared on his verified Instagram page, Olisa Adibua had faulted Burna Boy’s claims when he noted that a company called Creative Economic Catalyst (CEC) had co-opted him to get some artists, including Burna Boy, to perform at its end of the year event.
He communicated with Burna Boy’s team and after some months an agreement was signed between the singer’s Spaceship Collective and CEC. He is not a director in either company and didn’t have any say about how the event was organised ultimately.
He insisted he had no input or control over the events of January 1. Would the incident crash his relationship with Burna Boy and his family? Perhaps not. He noted he’s been friends with the singer and his family for a long time and will continue to be friends.
