SZA’s New Release, ‘Ctrl (Deluxe),’ Has Seven Previously Unreleased Tracks

Ctrl will be five years old this year.

SZA surprises fans with a deluxe version to celebrate the 5th anniversary of her critically acclaimed debut album. Ctrl (Deluxe) includes seven previously unheard songs, including the focal track “Tread Carefully” and “Love Galore (Alt Version),” in addition to the 14 original tracks.

On June 9, 2017, Top Dawg Entertainment released the single Ctrl. The Grammy-nominated album featured singles including “The Weekend” and “Love Galore,” as well as collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and Isaiah Rashad, and was certified 2x Platinum in the United States.

“This is JUST a gift for camp ctrl . Nothing more nothing less . if u family you get it . 5 yrs is a long time . Thank you for changing my life I love you . Happy anniversary 🤍 #HAPPYCTRLANNIVERSARY,” tweeted SZA in celebration of the LP.

“Ctrl is a concept,” SZA revealed in a 2017 interview with “The Breakfast Club.” “I’ve lacked control my whole life and I think I’ve craved it my whole life. I couldn’t really arrive at it and now, I’m not really looking to arrive at it anymore. I’m just happy to be present.”

SZA is preparing for the new chapter while she reflects on her history. Her long-awaited sophomore album is finished and set to be released this summer, according to her. Be sure to go stream that new Ctrl deluxe!
