Tekno Discusses Wizkid’s Influence On His Smash Hit “Rara”

Nigerian Afrobeats icon Tekno is taking us behind the scenes to explain what inspired him for one of his hit records. In an exclusive conversation with Joey Akan, Tekno explained how Wizkid’s smash single “Ojuelegba” served as the inspiration for his record-breaking song “Rara,” which ruled the airwaves after its release. The vocalist admitted that although the final instrumentation on the song was different, the acapella for the two songs sounded similar.

Tekno disclosed that “Rara” resulted from him being greatly motivated by a specific thing he admired. He admitted that he had made “Rara” because he had appreciated “Ojuelegba” so much.

“Ojuelegba,” the Legendury Beatz-produced song that propelled Wizkid’s career to great international heights and even gained the attraction of Drake himself, was the fifth track on Wiz’s 2014 “Ayo” album. The song showcased Wizkid’s versatility and musical prowess, so it’s no surprise that another artist would draw inspiration from such an impactful record. This revelation comes a month after Tekno collaborated with music producer Masterkraft on “10 Sure Oddz.”

Before working with Masterkraft on a new song, Tekno has also been featured on a slew of songs, notably Kizz Daniel’s anthem “Buga” and Phyno’s “Full Current,” both released last year.
