Tems’ Groundbreaking Debut EP, “For Broken Ears,” Goes Gold In The United States

Afrobeats global sensation, Tems, has just become the first female musician from Nigeria to receive a project certified by the RIAA.

“For Broken Ears,” Tems’ 2020 debut EP, has now reportedly sold over 500,000 copies in the US and earned an RIAA gold certification! Tems is the first female artist from Nigeria to get an RIAA-certified project thanks to this incredible accomplishment. The seven-track extended playlist “For Broken Ears,” which was released in 2020, included the hit songs “Free Mind” and “Higher,” both of which saw enormous success in the US.

Tems went on to become a worldwide phenomenon after becoming well-known throughout the world thanks to her successful collaboration with Nigerian megastar Wizkid on the song “Essence.” Her hits “Higher” and “Free Mind” achieved remarkable success in the US; the latter song would appear on the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks.

Tems has become one of the few Nigerian artists with RIAA-certified projects, joining Rema and Wizkid with “For Broken Ears,” which was rated RIAA Gold. Both Wizkid’s fourth album, “Made in Lagos,” and Rema’s first album, “Raves & Roses,” have received RIAA gold certification.

With the June 7, 2024 release of her debut album, “Born In The Wild,” Tems seeks to build on her impressive international performance. In addition, Tems recently released the singles “Me & U,” “Not An Angel,” and “Love Me Jeje” ahead of the release of her debut album.
