Tems’ Manager Comes Under Fire For Throwing Shade At Nigerian Fans

Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, has come under fire for demeaning Nigerian music lovers.

Muyiwa Awoniyi, also known as Donawon, Tems and Omah Lay’s manager, faced criticism on X (previously Twitter) today, May 23, for posting something that was perceived as somewhat disrespectful towards Nigerians. Awoniyi stated in his tweet, which is thought to be addressed to Nigerian customers, that him and his artists are not here to entertain us.

Tems’ manager, who has made no secret of his Christian faith, went on to remark that people will sit and watch and see the creation of a perfect God regardless of their opinions.

The post appears to be a response to the negative feedback Tems has been receiving lately after her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, when a lot of people called her performance abysmal. Observers criticized Awoniyi for talking down on Nigerian fans in his post, which was deemed to be patronizing to the country’s citizens.

Since Tems’ outstanding contribution to Wizkid’s worldwide hit song “Essence” brought her to the attention of the world. These recent remarks made by her manager on social media have sparked new discussions on the importance of Nigerian music fans to her popularity and career.
