The R&B singer recently set a new record for the longest-running No. 1 single by a female artist on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Airplay Chart, making her a historical figure in the process. Tems now surpasses previous marks held by American megastars like Beyonce and Rihanna thanks to this accomplishment. In addition, Tems entered the international music market by contributing to Wizkid’s massively successful song “Essence,” and she has since gone on to have enormous success in the UK and the US.

The RIAA has awarded her famous song “Free Mind” a platinum certification as It spent several weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. As well as composing with Rihanna, Tems has contributed to projects with Drake, Future, and Beyonce.

Recall that, She is the first female artist from Nigeria to win a BET award and the first artist from Nigeria to win two BET awards in one night. When she won the Best Melodic Rap Performance Grammy at the 2022 Grammys for her contribution to Future’s song “Wait for U,” she also made history as the first female Afrobeats artist to do so. Tems is also the first Nigerian artist nominated for an Oscar for her work on the song “Lift Me Up,” featured on the soundtrack movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

As the record-breaker pushes her sound to new places while helping in bringing positive attention to Afrobeat, netizens and music fans alike have reacted and continued to praise and applaud her endeavors.
