Tiwa Savage Set To Mark Her First Lead Role As An Actor And Executive Producer
Tiwa Savage, Nigeria’s Afrobeat Queen, is about to debut acting as the star of a new film called ‘Water and Garri.’
The Film, premised in the Ghanaian city of Cape Coast, stars the 43-year-old mother of one as a fashion designer with a promising career in the United States who returns to her native continent of Africa to deal with the guilt she left behind. The mother of one will also be making her directing debut in the Film.
On Wednesday, a delighted Tiwa commented on her Instagram page about the film project. She said, “This is about to be an ICONIC moment. My first lead role as an actor and Executive Producer. Directed by the GOAT @mejialabi. Water And Garri, the Film Coming soon.”
Other actors on the film set include Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde. Unbound Studios, an African production firm, and its subsidiary JM Films are said to have wrapped up principal photography on their debut film, Water and Garri. The film was co-directed by Tiwa Savage and Meji Alabi, and Comfort Emmanuel wrote it.
Tiwa Savage is a singer, songwriter, and now actor from Nigeria. She was born in Isale Eko and moved to Londatwas 11 years old to pursue her secondary education. She started her music career five years later by providing backing vocals for performers like Mary J. Blige and George Michael.
