A Posthumous Honor for the Legendary Hip-Hop Icon
In a heartfelt ceremony that took place on Wednesday, the late Tupac Shakur, a legendary figure in hip-hop, was posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This recognition comes just a few days before the iconic rapper’s birthday, adding a poignant touch to the event.
The star was accepted on behalf of the family by Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur. Overcome with emotion, she spoke of her brother’s dream of being celebrated with a star in Hollywood. “From the first time he stepped foot on this stage of the Apollo Theater at 13 years old, before anyone recognized his name, he knew he had the dream to have a star here on the walk of fame,” she said.

Tupac Shakur was selected to receive a star in 2013, but the organization waited for his family and estate to select a date. The star, the 2,758th on the Walk of Fame, is a tribute not only to his contributions to the music industry but also to his lasting impact on the world.
