She is rarely in the news these days, by Pink is still very much around, and she gave a piece of her mind during a recent sit-down with reality show star Kelly Clarkson.
During that interview, she recalled a lot about her life, including writing the highly memorable track “Who Knew” about friends’ overdose deaths. It was like walking through the corridors of the past once again, but she had to do it.
The Kelly Clarkson Show gave her the opportunity to loosen the cords of the past and let the world have a glimpse of the same. On the show, she recalled losing several friends to drug overdoses. According to her, the number was specifically written to memorialize her friend who died of a heroin overdose when they were both just teenagers.
Of course, the tragedy affected her and writing about it all in “Who Knew” was a cathartic experience of sorts. The years have passed but the interest in the song is still strong and for good reason. For one, America is yet to overcome its drug problem and stories of people dying from drug overdose are still pretty common.
