Wizkid Celebrates International Side Chicks Day
On a day believed to International Side Chicks Day, Nigerian music superstar Wizkid, real name Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, honored his many girlfriends. After Valentine’s Day, on February 15, people typically observe the occasion, also known as “Side Piece Day.” Men treat their “side chicks” to special dates on this day just like Valentine’s Day. Wizkid, who has three baby mamas and is single, took to social media to commemorate the day by sending good vibes to all side chicks and their sponsors.
This comes only a week after Wizkid performed at the Arise Fashion and Jazz Festival. The pilgrimage of prominent African-descent fashion designers, models, stylists, and other essential participants in the fashion ecosystem took place in the 2023 edition of the high-fashion tradition. The event was broadcast live from Eko Convention Hall on Victoria Island. Wizkid, as expected, whipped up the crowd, taking the audience to “Ojuelegba” – the foundations of Wizkid’s creativity in Afrobeats.
Wizkid, in his outfit worth millions of naira, also performed songs from his catalog including “Bad to Me,” “Essence,” and “2Sugar,” among others. As photographers kept their distance, Wizkid had the stage all to himself. He stated, emotionally, “No fuel, no light, but Starboy dey for you,” holding out his hands to the crowd. It is impossible for Big Wiz to get on stage and not put on a show.
