Young Thug’s Brother Unfoonk Freedom Unraveled: Probation Violation Leads to Prison Sentence

Young Thug's Brother, Unfoonk, Faces the Music in YSL RICO Case

In a recent turn of events, Quantavious Grier, better known as Unfoonk in the music industry and brother to renowned rapper Young Thug, has been sentenced to nine years and six months in prison. This development comes after Unfoonk violated the terms of his probation, a consequence of his involvement in the YSL RICO case.

Unfoonk, who had previously pleaded guilty to violating Georgia’s RICO Act and theft by receiving stolen property, was initially granted a plea deal. This deal commuted his original 12-year sentence to time served and a 10-year probation period. However, a traffic stop in May led to his arrest when Atlanta police discovered a firearm in his vehicle, a clear violation of his probation terms.

The court hearing held on June 5th saw Judge Ural Glanville revoke Unfoonk’s probation. The judge expressed frustration at Unfoonk’s disregard for the rules of his probation, stating, “You got arrested with a gun, and all you had to do was follow the rules, but instead you are riding around with a gun.” This violation has now led to Unfoonk being required to serve the remaining balance of his 12-year sentence, amounting to nine years and six months in prison.

The YSL RICO case, which has seen the indictment of Young Thug (real name Jeffery Williams), Gunna (real name Sergio Kitchens), and dozens of others, alleges that their group, YSL, was not merely a record label called “Young Stoner Life” but a violent Atlanta street gang known as “Young Slime Life.” The charges include allegations of murder, carjacking, armed robbery, drug dealing, and illegal firearm possession over the past decade.

Unfoonk’s legal troubles are far from over, as prosecutors plan to retry him on a murder case for which the Georgia Supreme Court has ordered a new trial. As the case continues to unfold, the music industry and fans alike watch with bated breath, waiting to see what the future holds for Unfoonk and the rest of the YSL group.
