Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) Biography

The late Mrs. Ruth Oluwafunmilayo Adeniran and Alhaji Adeniran welcomed Jandor into the world on 25 November 1977 in the Mushin neighborhood of Lagos State. He is thought to be originally from Awo.

Jandor holds degrees from The Polytechnic in Ibadan, Modul University in Vienna, the Howard University Business School in Washington, D.C., the United States, and Oxford University in Oxford, the United Kingdom. He received an honorary doctorate in leadership and governance from South American University in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2021.

As a politician, journalist, businessman, and technocrat, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran is better known by his nickname Jandor. With his campaign companion Funke Akindele, He is the chairman of the Lagos4Lagos movement and the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for governor of Lagos State.

He is a member of a well-known Adediran family of Nine. There’s a total of 7 children in the family. The Politician with Lagos roots says he is “A true son of Aworiland from the Osolu and Elete Kingdoms of Ojo local government area of Lagos.”.

He belongs to several organizations, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), and the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON).

He is the leader of the Lagos4Lagos movement and the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for governor of Lagos State in the 2023 General Elections, running alongside Funke Akindele. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from South American University in Lagos, Nigeria, in leadership and governance in 2021.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state’s Lagos4Lagos movement, which later defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, was led by Jandor (PDP). When asked why the movement formed, Jandor said: “I have read and heard varied perspectives about our decision to ditch the APC for the PDP, and I can’t but thank all sides of the split for at least thinking us worthy of their precious time, arguing our stance.”

Political Career

Jando is the Gubernatorial aspirant for the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Lagos state’s Guber Polls scheduled for 11 March 2023. He has been in the political sphere for a while, serving in various grassroots positions while building his political portfolio.

Regarding the PDP Lagos 2023 governorship flagbearer position, over six candidates declared an interest. They were David Vaughan, Otunba Jimi Karmal, Ade Dosunmu, Rhodes Gbadebo, Olajide Adediran, Adedeji Doherty, and Ade Dosunmu.

Most of them, including Adedeji Doherty, Rhodes Gbadebo, Ade Dosunmu, Otunba, and Jimi Karmal, withdrew before the primaries.
After defeating David Vaughan, Jandor ultimately won the PDP nomination for governor in the 2023 election.

Announcing the results in Ikeja, Mr. Emmanuel Ogidi, Chairman of the Lagos PDP Electoral Committee/Returning Officer, stated that Adediran received 679 votes to defeat Mr. David Vaughan, who received 20 votes.

He will be Up against Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour(GRV), now of the Labour Party, and the incumbent Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressive Congress(APC).

The Lagos PDP unveiled well-known Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as Jandor’s running partner on July 6, 2022. Lagos-born Akindele stated the urge to bring about positive change for women, youth, and children explains her acceptance of the role when asked why she accepted to be the party’s deputy candidate, with Olajide Adediran serving as the main flagbearer.
