Abubakar Bukola Saraki Biography
Born Olubukola Abubakar Saraki on December 19, 1962, in London, United Kingdom, He is the son of former senator Olusola Abubakar Saraki of the then Nigerian Second Republic of 1979-1983 and Morenike Florence Saraki.
He was a former governor and served as a Senator/Senate President for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following in his father’s footsteps, who was a senate leader during his own time.

He is a native of Kwara state. His paternal grandfather was of Italian descent, and his grandmother was from Iseyin, Oyo State.

Even though his family has been reported to have Malian ancestry, his paternal grandmother hails from Iseyin, Oyo State. The family has always been known to be affluent.

Parents
Following his paternal grandfather’s migration and settling in Ilorin, Bukola Saraki’s Father, Olusola Saraki, was born in Kwara state, where he met Florence Morenike Saraki.
Olusola Saraki was very educated as he attended the University of London and St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London, before his return to Nigeria. Upon his return, he worked at the General Hospital, Lagos, and Creek Hospital Lagos. He later went on to join politics and became a senator of the second Nigerian Republic.

Education
Bukola Saraki attended the famous King’s College, Lagos, from 1973-1978 and gained his West African School Certificate (WAEC). He later went to Cheltenham College from 1979 – 1981, where he moved to the London Hospital Medical College of the University of London after securing admission in 1982. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) at the London Hospital Medical College in 1987.
His quality education allowed him to be gainfully employed as a Medical Officer at the Rush Green Hospital, Essex, from 1988 – 1989.
Following his return to Nigeria in 2000, Saraki worked at the SociétéGénérale Bank (Nig) Ltd. as a director.
Lifestyle
Saraki has the demeanor of a purposeful man. He acknowledged his privileges and made the most of them nonetheless.
He is the only one amongst his known siblings to take his father’s route of being a Medical Doctor.
His venture into politics came in 2000 when then-President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him as a Special Assistant on Budget Issues.
In his Year of service, he initiated the Fiscal Responsibility Bill and sat on the committee on Economy Policy Coordination.
With the help of his father’s position in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he was able to secure the Gubernatorial ticket of the party in 2003. As a result, he went on the win the elections in April of that Year. As a result, he was sworn into office as Governor in May.
Four years later, he contested and won again as the Governor of Kwara State at the 2007 polls.
It is important to note that throughout his regime as Governor, the masses’ reviews were commendable.
As a leader who listened to the cry of his people, he took on many significant reforms and projects in the state, notable amongst them the invitation of displaced White farmers from Zimbabwe and offering them land to farm in his form.
He showed his caring, concerned and sympathetic side as he tackled healthcare issues head-on and supported campaigns that touched on Mother and Child mortality. As a result, insecticides, mosquito nets, and repellants were shared in large numbers with mothers and their wards across the state.
