Alex Chioma Otti is a Nigerian economist, banker, investor, philanthropist, and politician. He is currently the Governor-elect of Abia State, Nigeria, after winning the March 17 gubernatorial elections with the Labour Party. He is from Isiala Ngwa, Abia State, Nigeria.

Otti is a former Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank Plc, a retail financial institution in Nigeria. In 2015, he contested as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) IN Abia State. The Court of Appeal, which sat in Owerri on 31 December 2015, removed Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party as governor of Abia State and declared Otti, the winner of the April 11 and April 25 Governorship elections in the state.

The verdict was reversed on February 3, 2016, by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and Okezie Ikpeazu was reinstated as Governor. Otti is a member of the editorial board of the Nigerian news outlet Thisday and writes a weekly column titled “Outside The Box.”

Under the All progressive’s grand alliance (APGA), Alex Otti ran for Governor in Abia State in 2015. He was declared the winner by The Court of Appeal, which sat in Owerri on 31 December 2015 and removed kezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as governor of Abia State. However, the verdict was reversed on February 3, 2016, by the Supreme Court of Nigeria

On May 2022, he withdrew from the APC governorship primary election in Abia state. Punch reported that “he had based his withdrawal on claims that the election outcome had already been predetermined by vested interests.” 72 hours later, Otti formally joined the Labour Party and won the governorship ticket. On December 28, 2022, he vowed to retrieve his stolen mandate. He won the Abia State Gubernatorial Elections in March 2023.

Alex Otti began his banking career in 1989 with the Nigerian International Bank, a subsidiary of Citibank New York, working in the operations department. He later moved to Nigerian Intercontinental Merchant Bank Ltd, then joined Societe Bancaire Nigeria Limited (Merchant Bankers) in 1992. He moved on to the United Bank for Africa (UBA) as the principal manager. He joined First Bank of Nigeria, PLC as assistant general manager in May 2001.
