Alex Ekubo was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on 10 April 1986. He is a native of Arochukwu, Abia State. Before settling in Lagos, his family lived in a number of different areas. He can therefore speak Hausa and Igbo with ease. Before attending the University of Calabar, Alexx Ekubo completed his education at the K. Kotun Nursery and Primary School in Lagos and the Federal Government College in Daura, Katsina State. In 2008, he received his L.L.B. in law from the University of Calabar. He also holds a mass communication diploma from Nigeria’s Calabar Polytechnic.

Lady Jane Ekubo, a businesswoman and fashion designer, and Mazi Alex Ekubo, a petroleum trader, were the parents of Alex Ekubo. Alexx is the second of four children; he has a brother and two sisters.
