Nigerian politician and attorney Olufemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila CFR was born on June 25, 1962. Speaker of the House of Representatives since 2019, Gbajabiamila is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Prior to starting his own law company, Femi Gbaja & Co., he first worked for Bentley Edu & Co. in Lagos. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States, passed the Georgia bar test in 2001 and opened a law practice there. He actively engaged in the election of Bill Campbell, who eventually became the mayor of Atlanta while he was still in the USA.

Gbajabiamila represents the Surulere I constituency of Lagos State and was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2003. The Employee Rights Bill, the Local Content in Construction Industry Bill, the Vocational Schools Bill, the Economic Stimulus Bill, the Interest-Free Students Loan and Establishment of Nigeria Education Bank Bill, among other bills, have been among Gbajabiamila’s most passionately supported bills in the House. In addition, through resolutions on the House floor, Gbajabiamila battled valiantly to have the National Assembly recognize the newly established local governments in Lagos State.
