Ini Edo Biography

 

Ini Edo has worked in the Nigerian silver screen for more than 20 years, like many other performers in her genre.

Since Ini Edo was one of the actors that contributed to Nollywood’s development, it is impossible to discuss both old and current Nollywood without mentioning her. The actress will be 42 years old in 2023 because of her April 23, 1982 birthday.

She was born in Akwa-Ibom and grew up with three sisters and a brother. She was the second of four children.

Ini studied at Calabar’s Cornelia Connelly College. After receiving her diploma, she decided to continue her education and enrolled at the University of Uyo to pursue a certificate in theatre arts. She was awarded a scholarship in 2014, so she may study law at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

Since making her film debut in 2000, Ini Edo has appeared in more than 100 films.

Lifestyle

“Thick Madam” marked the beginning of her acting career in 2000 as a producer who happened to see Ini Edo at the audition she went to. It was her big break when she appeared in “World Apart” in 2004. She has since gone on to act in almost a hundred movies.

For her work in the film “While you slept,” she was nominated for a “Best Lead Actress” award at the 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Ini Edo pointed out in 2017 that there are numerous gimmicks in the Nollywood industry, and only a person’s hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication will propel them to the top. She also advocated for perseverance, determination, and diligence, saying one could succeed with those qualities.

Ini also served as one of the judges for the ‘Miss Black Africa UK Pageant’ in 2013. In addition, the United Nations selected Ini Edo to serve as a United Nations Habitat Youth Envoy in 2014.

By Udom Gabriel Emmanuel’s appointment in 2016, Ini Edo was given the position of Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Culture and Tourism.

Ini was recently a judge at the 9jaspirit Talent Hunt.

The incredibly well-known actress was previously wed to Phillip Ehiagwina, a Nigerian businessman based in America. The first wedding between the two took place in Nigeria in November 2008, while the second one in Houston, Texas, in February 2009. After six years of marriage, the two decided to part ways in 2014.

Ukeme and Ify are the actress’s biological sisters. The name of her brother is Oti.
