Waje Biography

Aituaje Aina Vivian Ebele Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, is a Nigerian singer. Her adopted stage name is the abbreviation for Words Are Just Enough. She was born in Ondo state but her family relocated to Benin soon after.

She was very young when her parent’s marriage disintegrated and Waje herself got pregnant as a teenager.  It appeared everything was stacked against her but Waje exhibited great resilience of spirit, which would serve her pretty well in later years.

She started making music early but gained more recognition when she was co-opted on P-Square’s “Omoge Mi.” Her career has continued to shoot upward ever since. Who doesn’t know Waje today?

Family

Waje’s extended family comprises her mother, and her siblings – her brother Ifeanyi Iruobe and her sister Amaka Iruobe.

Parents

Waje’s parents are no longer together, having decided to divorce when their kids were still very young. While her father is Yoruba, her mother is an Igbo lady from Onitsha.

Father

Details about Waje’s father are just not out there. However, he is said to be a Yoruba man from Ondo state. He divorced Waje’s mother early in the marriage. he died in 2021 and Waje posted him.

Mother

Not much is known about Wae’s mother, except that she divorced her husband when Waje was still very young. Waje grew up with her mother and accidentally got pregnant when she was still in secondary school. She kept the baby.

Siblings

Waje is now to have a brother known as Ifeanyi Iruobe. Unlike his sister, though, Ifeanyi is rarely in the news. They share a close bond nevertheless.

Waje has an only sister known as Amaka Iruobe. She is an actress and has featured in a couple of flicks back home in Nigeria.

Children

Waje is a single mother of one. She got pregnant when she was about to write her WAEC exams in 1998 and had her daughter soon after. According to her, it wasn’t until she was five months gone that she informed her mother that she was pregnant. She always wanted to keep the baby.

In retrospect, she says her daughter Emerald is the best thing to have happened to her.

Husband/Boyfriend

For some ladies, the dream is to have a boyfriend and then a husband. But, of course, not everyone ends up achieving that dream. For whatever reason. Waje is one of those who do not have a husband. She has never been married. In 2021, speculations were rife that she was about to get married to singer Ric Hassani. But it turned out they merely shared a picture to promote their collaboration.

Lifestyle

Waje loves life but is not exactly loud about it. She’s also a firm believer in giving a hand to others in need after having been blessed herself. This informed the launch of her “Safe House” project back in 2012. The Waje’s Safe House project was an initiative aimed at supporting NGOs to achieve their goals.

It is almost traditional for some celebs to be loud about their “bags.” Waje does not exactly fall into the same category, as you rarely find her talking about her wealth. Well, the pub;lic has been doing the talking and the conservative estimate of her net worth is about $1 million – an impressive sum by Nigerian standards.

At least Waje is an example of one celeb who went to great lengths to ensure that she had a crib befitting her status.
