Cheat Codes, a DJ trio made up of KEVI, Trevor Dahl, and Matthew Russell has donned a cowboy hat and boots and is forging on into the world of country music after previously releasing dance, electro, and pop music.

In an interview, Trevor Dahl said, “Since we started, we’ve always wanted to be able to like, you know, delve in on different genres and collaborate with different artists,” when asked what motivated the transition.

We’ve always been huge fans of country music, and when the pandemic struck, we collaborated with Little Big Town on a song that ended up being country, and one piece developed into an entire album.

The Blue background and door give the Album cover a calm and royal look, hinting at what the group thinks of their foray into the country genre as they look to blend other aspects of their sound into the genre. Finally, there are fireworks in the night sky, signaling a celebration of the arrival of an expectation – The appearance and festival of the talented group with their genre-bending sounds.

The lush grasses, the lone car, and the country house with the lights represent an appreciation for the countryside.

With a tracklist that includes some of the most renowned stars in country music, One Night In Nashville is genuinely unlike any other album. This Album is almost entirely a collaboration, except for the band’s only solo song, “Sippin.”

The Album was created on significant themes of Love and Relationship, and in a storytelling way with emotions of Rejection, Heartbreaks, Romance, and Desire.

The 15- track Album opens with a Lady A feature, “something’s coming,” and is a brilliant opener for the electro-country vibe the Album is set to give off. The vocals and beat arrangement are superb and show that the trio isn’t playing with this new move.

The next track has Russell Dickerson, and it’s the widely acclaimed “I remember,” which was released as a single off the Album in 2022. The song even got to the top charts and was so good that it got a special remix with the Dixie d’Amelio, which closes the listening journey.

Mackenzie Porter on “One Night Left” is one of the best collaborations on the Album. The great storytelling and the relatable scenarios make this a great listen, as you can imagine the lyrics as they are sung out. The trio combines brilliantly with Porter to give country fans a beautiful song.

“Hurt that you gave me” featuring Brett Young, “What’s It gonna take ” featuring Mitchell Tenpenny, and “How do you love” featuring Lindsay Ell and Lee Brice are other great songs of the Album that emphasize the relationship and love plots of the Album. It talks about handling rejection, heartbreak, and pain, as well as dealing with unrequited love. The tracks compositions are incredibly jivey and danceable, especially as the electronic sounds effortlessly blend with the country vibe and give off a modern country music feel.

Legendary Dolly Parton comes in on “Bet on Us” and, with the trio, delivers a masterclass performance. But, again, the show is just right, and the message is curt and precise—another beautiful track off the Album.

When Nate Smith comes in on “You ain’t been in Love,” it’s Vibrations upon Vibrations as his almost-perfect feature is followed by the Solo ” Sippin” track that sees Cheat Codes do fantastic justice to the instrumentation. Little Big Town is featured alongside Bryn Christopher on “Never love you again” and Yo! It’s Little Big Town all over again, as the delivery of all the artists is so on the song. Brilliant.

Other collaborations with Maddie and Tae, Adam Doleac, Jimmie Allen, and Matt Stell are all Hit performances as “One Night In Nashville” can arguably boast of no Misses on the Album.

As earlier mentioned, a remix of ” I remember” with Dickerson and Dixie closes the incredible “electro-country” listening journey.

Summary

Cheat Codes have unlocked a new high, and this genre-bending move is a definite Hit.
