There are some bands whose music makes you instantly optimistic about the rest of the day. They frequently set trends and have years of experience honing and improving their profession. That aptly sums up Stick Figure. Stick Figure is an exceptional reggae rock band that consistently creates brilliant reggae rock. Their most recent album, “Wisdom,” is yet another example of this.

Set in a beautiful and very colorful oasis is a large, formerly dead but now blooming trunk of a mighty tree, which now serves as the life of the oasis or rather is what makes it the oasis that it is as it is not only but a huge tree trunk, it also is the fountain of water that nourishes the entire vegetation that surrounds it. This is an apt, artful representation of the message conveyed throughout the album.

Tracks and Features

The record opens with “Old Sunrise,” an incredible groove. Scott Woodruff’s deep singing voice, beautiful riddims, and insightful lyrics are all things I adore about Stick Figure. The song contains some of the best lyrics in the genre.

Stick Figure can make complicated ideas seem straightforward. Listen as the instruments begin to pile one on top of the other when you switch on “Paradise.” Infusing reggae, rock, dub, and pop with such creative songwriting, Woodruff and his comrades, Johnny Cosmic and KBong, are able to do so. Whether you’re at the beach enjoying the surf or searching for motivation to start the day, turn this music up.

Run to the shore and enjoy “Edge of the Ocean’s” positive energy. Stick Figure makes such soothing music, and you would most definitely adore the bass line, guitar riffs, and expertly timed drum pattern in this tune. In this song, Scott Woodruff shines so brightly that he encourages happiness and life exploration throughout the entire album. Speaking of exploration, the song “Stepping Stones” immediately gets under your skin. The song serves as a fantastic reminder that life is a journey and that we should look for chances to step outside of our comfort zones.

In the love song “Fall into the Sun,” the horn section encourages clinging to love. It would be motivating and particularly thrilling to hear or watch the band perform this song in any one of their upcoming gigs! You could escape to a tranquil setting by listening to the song “Soul of the World,” which features reggae legend Barrington Levy. “It’s the soul of the world; I’ve been trying to find a good time; Four corners of the world; All I’ve found is love,” sings Levy.

Stick Figure’s tranquil tune “Satisfaction Feeling” can help you slow down. Woodruff muses on the value of love and the need to spread it despite adversity. Stick Figure motivates people all over the world to shrug off the gray skies and encourages us to live freely and with an open mind. Another nearly flawless Stick Figure reggae rock hymn, “Falling Stars,” will make you smile and be grateful for the good things in life.

Album Theme

Finding meaning, purpose, place, and belonging in life is what “Wisdom” is all about. “Wisdom” is a journey and a search for these things. Wisdom is a way of life that allows us to understand that it’s ok to make mistakes, start over, love, and feel suffering. It serves as a reminder to pay attention to the tiny things that make us happy and to remember that everything is a part of our unique story. It also demonstrates the importance of having fun while accomplishing everything!
