Review: “The Light” By Juice WRLD

"The Light" by Juice WRLD: A Beacon of Hope in the Darkness

Fans of Juice WRLD have been anticipating the release of his posthumous album, The Party Never Ends. They  have finally gotten a taste of what’s to come with the release of his latest track, “The Light.” The song, initially previewed by producer Gezin in 2020, is an upbeat song in which Juice WRLD reflects on his difficulties with addiction and mental health concerns while fighting to be positive in the face of adversity.

Juice WRLD reveals his troubles and love struggles in “The Light,” mentioning how his significant other is the “light” in the darkness. The song showcases his own approach, which mixes his rap ethos, pop-punk inspirations, and addictive radio-friendly melodies. It’s a sympathetic song that helped him become a household name, as he recalls how his partner helped him escape a bad situation.

The lively speed of the song, combined with its uplifting lyrics, offers a sense of optimism, making it a welcome addition to Juice WRLD’s career. Throughout the song, Juice WRLD discusses his issues while reflecting on how his girlfriend helped him get out of a funk. He recognizes the presence of demons deep within him but is determined to battle them and triumph.

Since his unexpected passing in 2019, Juice WRLD’s estate has begun releasing many of his creations. Legends Never Die, his first posthumous album, was released in 2020, with tracks like “Come & Go,” “Smile,” and “Tell Me U Love Me.” Then, in 2021, Fighting Demons was released as the second-to-last album of the posthumous trilogy.

“The Light,” Juice WRLD’s first posthumous release of 2023, is set to appear on The Party Never Ends. Lil Bibby, the founder of Grade A Productions, revealed the impending album earlier this year. Bibby stated that the album will be a tribute to Juice WRLD, and fans are impatiently awaiting its release.

The Last Juice WRLD Album is in the works… We want this album to feel like a Celebration/Party! Let’s celebrate the life of Juice,” Bibby wrote in an Instagram caption. “No more mourning, I want everyone that Juice loved while he was here to help celebrate, especially his fans who he loved! You guys have been the best fans an artist can have (Minus the death threats to Bibby).

“The Light” is a sample of the vivid, uplifting music that fans can look forward to hearing on the next album. It emphasizes Juice WRLD’s relatability and his distinct combination of genres. Despite its radio-friendly hooks, the song retains the raw intensity that Juice WRLD fans have grown to anticipate.

Juice WRLD’s legacy has grown in the years after his death, and his followers have stayed steadfast. Last year, on December 2, they celebrated his birthday with Trippie Redd, Lil Tecca, Ski Mask the Slump God, G Herbo, Cordae, DDG, Lucki, Sleazyworld Go, Bankrol Hayden, and Tana at the Juice WRLD Day celebration.

“The Light” exemplifies Juice WRLD’s ability to connect with his audience via song. It’s a song that provides hope and positivity in terrible circumstances, which is desperately needed in today’s society. As we wait for The Party Never Ends to be released, “The Light” serves as a reminder of the talent that we have lost and the legacy that he has left behind.
