Born on May 14, 1997, Daniel Benson is a Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, songwriter, and record producer. He goes by the stage name BNXN. Daniel Benson, a singer, was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in the Gbagada district. P-Square, 9ice, and D’Banj were among his earliest musical influences. The young performer chose the name Buju, a nod to his background, which he abbreviated to stand for: Beauty Underneath Just Understood, after quitting school to pursue music full-time.
Before releasing his debut EP Sorry I’m Late in 2021, Benson established his reputation in his native country’s music scene with standout tracks, including “Outside” and a prominent cameo on Ladipoe’s “Feeling.” The singer found his biggest hit to date on Pheelz’s viral hit “Finesse” before heavily collaborating with the U.K. rap scene on JAE5’s “Propeller,” B Young’s “Ocean,” and M Huncho’s “Pray 2 the East.” In 2022, he changed his name to BNXN (pronounced “Benson”). BNXN became his own boss, starting his own record label, TYE (To Your Ears) Entertainment, after having departed his former label a year after he got signed, which was also the duration of his contract.
