Joeboy Biography
Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, popularly known as Joeboy, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter best known for his hit song “Baby.” He was discovered in 2017 by Nigerian pop star Mr. Eazi and was added to the ‘Empawa Africa’ label.

Early Life And Career
Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, aka Joeboy, was born in Lagos State in 1997. He officially began his career following the release of the song “Faaji” featuring Mr. Eazi of emPawa100 in 2018. He used the grant he received from Empawa Africa to shoot a video for the song.
On March 1st, 2019, he released what would become his breakout hit “Baby.” The song fast became popular in Nigeria and across Africa, earning praise from music lovers. The song garnered over 20 million streams across YouTube and Spotify in 2019 alone. The song’s visualizer alone has garnered over 31 million views on YouTube, and its official video has hit 10 million on the platform.
On August 15, 2019, Joeboy released a follow-up to the song titled “Beginning,” produced by KillerTunes. The song also quickly caught on and became yet another massive hit. Its visualizer video has surpassed 23 million views on YouTube. In November 2019, Joeboy cemented his place on the scene with the release of his debut Extended Play, “Love & Light,” which received praise from fans and music lovers.
The EP was released by emPawa Africa and contained the two hit songs “Baby” and “Beginning.” It also features the song “Don’t Call Me Back,” assisted by DMW star, Mayorkun, and “All For You.”
On April 10, 2020, Joeboy released “Call,” the first single off his forthcoming debut studio album. The song was produced by Dera, and TG Omori directed its music video.
At the 2019 All Africa Music Awards, Joeboy won the award for Best Artiste In African Pop. He also won the Best Pop award at the 2020 SoundCity MVP Awards Festival. He has also been nominated for multiple awards at the City People Entertainment Awards and The Headies.
Also, In 2020, Joeboy was featured alongside emPawa Africa boss, Mr. Eazi, on DJ Neptune’s hit song “Nobody.” The song became one of the biggest hits of 2020, and its official music video garnered over 25 million streams on YouTube. A remix of the song titled “Nobody (Icons Remix)” featuring Big Brother Nigeria Season 5 winner, Laycon was released in November of the same year.
Girlfriend
Joeboy has never admitted to having a girlfriend. However, in February 2020, he shared a photo of a mystery girl on his Twitter page, prompting speculation that it might be his girlfriend.
Twin Brother
In 2020, Joeboy’s twin brother, Coldee, surfaced on social media with claims that the singer abandoned him after finding fame. He claimed that he sacrificed so much for Joeboy but was left behind after he became famous.
