Born in Missouri, Eminem (real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and actor.

He grew up with a single mother, and as a teenager, he broke both his legs in an accident. In a sense, the accident turned out to be a blessing as it encouraged his creative impulses and ultimately ignited his musical interests.

He started rapping when he was still pre-teen, but when one of his friends got shot for some reason, he joined the group Soul Intent.

The group’s debut album went unnoticed, but with Dr Dre, Eminem’s life had a revolutionary turn in the industry. The once-obscure rapper would soon become one of the best rappers of all time.

Eminem quickly gained popularity in 1999 with his major-label debut album, “The Slim Shady LP.”

He won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Lose Yourself” from the film 8 Mile, in which he also played the lead role. The following albums, “The Marshall Mathers LP” and “Eminem Show,” also won Grammy Awards, making Eminem the first artist to win Best Rap Album for three consecutive LPs.
