Shania Twain Biography

Eilleen Regina “Shania” Twain is a Canadian actress and singer-songwriter born on August 28, 1965. She is the best-selling female artist in country music history and one of the best-selling musicians, with over 100 million records sold. She received many titles due to her fame, including “Queen of Country Pop.” She was ranked first among the country-pop crossover stars of the 1990s by Billboard.

Twain has won 39 BMI Songwriter Awards, two World Music Awards, five Grammy Awards, stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame, and inductions into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and Canada’s Music Hall of Fame. In addition, she is the only female artist in history, according to the RIAA, to have three (consecutive) albums certified Diamond by the organization.

She also happens to be the sixth best-selling female artist in the country. In the Nielsen SoundScan era, Twain is the tenth best-selling artist overall. Additionally, Twain was named the 13th Best Music Video Female Solo Artist of All Time by Billboard (42nd overall).

Family

Parents

Shania was raised by her mother and stepfather; she had no contact with her biological father after age two. However, the two were tragically killed in a car accident when Shania was twenty-two years old in 1987. As a result, she had clogged connections with both of them. She claims that although her mother was a major supporter of hers, it frequently stemmed from the idea that her daughter may be a source of income.

Siblings

Carrie Ann Edwards, Darryl Twain, Jill Edwards, and Mark Twain are Shania Twain’s three siblings. Jill and Carrie Ann are Shania Twain’s biological sisters. When Shania’s parents separated when she was two years old, her mother (Sharon) wed Jerry Twain, with whom she later gave birth to Mark Twain.

Shania and her two sisters, Jill and Carrie Ann, were adopted by Jerry, who legally changed their last names to Twain. When Darryl’s mother passed away while Mark Twain was a little child, Jerry, and Sharon took him in as their own.

Child

Shania Twain has been a proud parent since 2001. On August 12, 2001, the singer gave birth to a son Eja D’Angelo Lange, now 21 years old, and her ex-husband Robert “Mutt” Lange. The singer had moved to Switzerland with her then-husband because she believed she could give her son a normal life there.

Husband

Shania Twain and Frédéric Thiébaud are still going strong more than ten years after marriage. The couple started a closer relationship in 2009 and became engaged in December 2010. On New Year’s Day 2011, just one month later, Twain and Thiébaud exchanged vows in a private ceremony at sunset in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

The Grammy winner and Swiss businessman fell in love after Twain divorced her husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange, who was rumored to have an affair with Marie-Anne Thiébaud, a close friend of Twain’s at the time.

Net Worth

As of 2023, Shania Twain has an estimated net worth of $400 million. There are many reasons why Shania Twain is so wealthy. The Grammy-winning artist has sold over 100 million records, including Come on Over from 1997, the all-time best-selling country album with over 40 million copies sold worldwide. In addition, the record is the biggest-selling album of any female performer in any genre.

Her subsequent albums received sales boosts as a result of Come on Over’s success, with her debut album earning certified platinum in 1999 after being published in 1993. Twain has also continued to perform in public, including two Las Vegas residencies where she is estimated to earn around $1 million every concert.

Cars

Shania’s car collection includes a Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII, a Mercedes-Maybach S680, and a BMW X7.

House

Shania owns several properties in The Bahamas, Canada, Las Vegas, and Switzerland, but she primarily resides there. On a 1-acre lot with 150 feet of beachfront, the Bahamas property is a 7,000-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom mansion. The Bahamas property was listed by Twain in 2019 for $10.95 million, according to Country Fancast.

The Universal Music Group owns the American record company Mercury Records. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, it was a successful independent enterprise. Smash Records and Fontana Records were sub-labels of Mercury. Mercury Records published rock, funk, R&B, doo-wop, soul music, blues, pop, rock and roll, and jazz records. Republic Records runs it in the US; EMI Records distributes it in the UK and Japan (under “Mercury Tokyo” in the latter nation).
