Jega, Adulaziz Appointed As Aides To Tinubu Media Team Ahead Of General Elections
With the general elections gathering momentum, the APC presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu has bolstered his media team with the appointment of two new aides; Mahmud Jega as Special Adviser on Public Affairs and Abdulaziz as Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.
Prior to their appointment, Jega was an in-house analyst for Arise TV, Editor-in-chief of 21st Century Chronicle, an online publication, and also ran a weekly column for Thisday newspaper.
Abdulaziz was a Deputy General Editor of the Daily Trust newspaper and an award-winning journalist and social media influencer and also anchored a morning show for Trust TV, an arm of the Media Trust Group.
Following a statement issued by the Tinubu Media Office and signed by Mr. Tunde Rahman, the appointees would be greatly involved in deploying their expertise and deep understanding of political issues across the country especially in the North as they shore up activities of the media team.
It’s also important to note that Jega has been a journalist for more than three decades after serving as a lecturer in biological sciences at his alma school, the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
He served Daily Trust Newspapers as managing editor, editor, deputy editor-in-chief, and chairman of the editorial board for a total of 13 years. Before then, he held the positions of editor for New Nigerian Newspapers, editor for The Sentinel magazine in Kaduna, and assistant editor for Citizen.
Abdulaziz also has vast experience in social media, TV, print, and the internet.
Before joining Blueprint Newspaper, which he left in 2017 as Deputy Editor, he had worked for the LEADERSHIP Newspapers as a Correspondent, Bureau Chief, and Regional Editor.
Abdulaziz also worked with Premuim Times before beginning his employment with Daily Trust at the beginning of 2021.
