As there have been back-and-forths among a number of former housemates, the BBNaija drama has persisted in trending among show participants and social media users. The drama surrounding BBNaija has not only captivated the attention of former housemates and social media users, but it has also sparked intense debates and discussions online. The constant buzz and controversies surrounding the show have further solidified its status as a cultural phenomenon in Nigeria.
On September 18, Maria Chike and Ike, two BBNaija celebrities, got into a fight on X (formerly Twitter) when Maria made fun of Ike for Mercy Eke’s advancement to the Big Brother Naija All Stars reality show finals. Ike, one of the contestant’s housemates, promised to work against Mercy to reach the finals. Ike had made the statement while still a contestant on the All-Stars version and living in the house. Sadly, fans’ votes eliminated him from the show a few weeks following the storyline.
But after receiving the fewest eviction nominations in the latest round of nominations, Mercy was named a finalist on the show. Maria then used her X handle to mock Ike about Mercy’s triumph, to which he retaliated by labelling her a “low-budget clown.”
