Buhari For A Free Election, Not Opposing Any Candidate, El-Rufai Receives A Response From FG

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made innuendoes about what had been discussed in political circles in whispers last Thursday at a campaign rally in Abeokuta. Yesterday, Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai elevated the topic to the national conversation. As a result, many rumors have swelled inside the APC and among the opposition groups that President Muhammadu Buhari may not have supported Tinubu enough for the presidency.

When El-Rufai pointedly stated that some individuals in the Presidential Villa (Ask Rock) were conspiring to defeat Tinubu at the polls while he was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, he caught everyone’s attention. El-Rufai further disclosed that the people mentioned above, whom he omitted from his remarks, had a candidate during the APC presidential primaries, but the nominee lost.

He continued by saying those people hide behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to uphold ethics. At the hotly contested presidential primaries in June, Tinubu easily defeated key contenders such as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and Minister of Labor Chris Ngige, among other party veterans. He claims that the current policy of currency redesign is the creation of a small group of individuals in the Presidential Villa and was never the APC’s position.
