“Call And Congratulate President-elect Tinubu,” APC Chieftain Advises Kinsman Peter Obi

Chris Adighije, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, to accept the loss and congratulate Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of the country.

The Federal University of Lokoja’s pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council, Mr. Adighije, provided the recommendation in a statement on Sunday. The Labour Party presidential candidate should consider his region, the South-East, and Nigeria when making any decisions, according to Mr. Adighije, who serves as the chair of the APC stakeholders in Abia.

He advised Mr. Obi to call the election’s announced winner to congratulate him as a sign of sportsmanship. He asserted that Mr. Obi needs to do an act that won’t snowball into the devastation of life and property if he wants to win over the hearts of Nigerians.

He expressed worry that Mr. Obi’s move would significantly impact how the South-East will be represented in Nigeria’s political system.
“I want to congratulate the leader of my party, the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Mr. Adighije said in praise of Mr. Obi for firmly establishing the Igbos in the national political conversation. I’ll take this chance to congratulate Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, on his honesty and tenacity during the race.

“I shall ask that he congratulates the presidential election winner,” the APC leader continued, “as I honestly feel that such a kind action would endear him more to the hearts of the ‘Obidient’ Movement and Nigeria at large.”

Whatever move Mr. Obi makes in this situation “has a high propensity to affect Nigerians, especially the South-Easters, positively or badly,” according to Mr. Adighije.

Obi, meanwhile, has filed a suit against the nation’s governing electoral body as events unfold in the coming months.
