Nollywood actor and politician Desmond Elliot has emerged victorious in the Lagos State House of Assembly election, retaining his seat in the Surulere Constituency. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Elliot, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of the election held on Saturday.
Elliot won the Surulere Constituency 1 assembly seat with a margin of over 10,000 votes. Following his win, the actor and his supporters took to the streets to celebrate his re-election. Videos and pictures of the jubilation have surfaced online, with Elliot joining his supporters in the festivities.
Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, congratulated Desmond Elliot on his victory, remarking that he “prevailed over these children,” referring to Elliot’s younger opponent, 28-year-old actor Olumide Oworu.
Desmond Elliot and his wife were pictured casting their votes in Surulere, Lagos, during the March 18 governorship election. The actor’s victory was also reflected in the governorship election at his polling unit, where Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emerged as the winner.
