Kemi Adetiba, a well-known movie producer and cinematographer, has paid tribute to Funke Akindele, a colleague and the PDP candidate for deputy governor in the just-completed March gubernatorial elections. In recognition of Funke Akindele’s ground-breaking achievements in the movie-producing business, Nigerian filmmaker Kemi Adetiba gave her “flowers” to the Nollywood actress and producer.
“Battle on Buka Street” and “Omo Ghetto The Saga,” two films by Funke Akindele, were listed as the top and second-highest grossing Nigerian films by “The Wedding Party” producer. The third-highest-grossing film was “Wedding Party” by Kemi Adetiba, with N452,288,605 million. She wished Funke Akindele well and tagged her in the screenshot description, which included a flower emoji.
The mother of twins, Funke Akindele, reportedly shattered her record for the highest-grossing movie at the Nigerian box office, breaking a record in the country’s film industry. According to a post by Film One, Funke Akindele’s most recent film, “Battle on Buka Street,” surpassed the box office success of her 2020 release, “Omo Ghetto The Saga.” At the box office, “Battle on Buka Street” made 640 million naira, defeating “Omo Ghetto the Saga”‘s 636 million naira.
According to Film One on Instagram, the actress has only herself to contend with. A landmark in Nollywood projects also allowed Funke Akindele to surpass Toyin Abraham, a colleague who had won awards. The money that Nollywood producers have made over the years was displayed on a chart by Top Charts. The chart made millions of naira from Mo Abudu, Ayo Makun, Jade Osiberu, Funke Akindele, and Toyin Abraham.
Funke Akindele made nearly N1.33 billion in the chart from her movies, while Toyin Abraham made N564 million. With her film “Battle on Buka Street” earning over 640 million naira, Funke is Nigeria’s highest-earning Nollywood actress; hence the difference between the two actresses is significant.
