Live: Burial Service Of Christian Atsu From Accra, Ghana
The late Ghanaian international Christian Atsu, who passed away in the Turkey-Syria earthquake last month, is currently having his last rites performed. His state-sponsored funeral service occurred on the State House’s front lawn in Accra. Many mourners and well-wishers from Ghana and outside are lining up to pay their respects to the remains.
Family, friends, football players, and prominent figures, including President Akufo-Addo and the late President John Mahama, remembered the deceased Hatayspor athlete. On 18 March, he will rest at Dogobome, his hometown.
Christian Atsu Twasam, a Ghanaian professional football player, was born on 10 January 1992 and passed away around 6 February 2023. He mostly played as a winger but could also be used as an attacking midfielder or left-back.
In addition to spending a season on loan at Rio Ave, Atsu started his career at Porto. Chelsea acquired him in 2013 for £3.5 million and afterward loaned him to Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, AFC Bournemouth, and Málaga. He signed a permanent switch to Newcastle United in May 2017 after playing on loan there during the 2016–17 campaign. After his four-year contract expired, he played for Al Raed in Saudi Arabia and Hatayspor in Turkey, where he was killed at age 31 in the Turkey-Syria earthquake of 2023.
