While the Seun Kuti vs. Nigerian Police drama drags on, Made, the grandson of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has responded to the arrest of his uncle Seun Kuti by members of the Nigerian police force for allegedly assaulting a police officer on Lagos’ 3rd mainland bridge.
Seun Kuti’s detention by the police and the derogatory remarks made by trolls on social media have prompted a response from Made Kuti. Made Kuti talked about the slanderous remarks made against his family by trolls in the comments area of his father Femi Kuti’s article post on the incident.
The Grammy-nominated performer highlighted how there is so much more than just social media by posting a photo of himself and his father leaving the courts. He stated in the caption of the posted photo that his family is doing everything they can to provide his uncle and his family the assistance and support they need.
The urge to continuously prove himself through posts and his disdain in living for social media were both voiced. He urged the trolls to adopt a broader perspective and understand that there is more to life than what they can see on their phones.
“I don’t like that we have to post things on social media to show/prove we’re doing everything we can as a family. But here you go,” Made said. His post read:
At court yesterday. I don’t like that we have to post things on social media to show/prove we’re doing everything we can as a family. But here you go. Because of this, many are cursing at us under my father’s last post, swearing at us for doing nothing. We must accept there’s much more to life than what we see on our phones.
