Results have been announced after the elections at the polling units in Ogun State, Nigeria, and collation has occurred at the ward and local government levels. Today, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced collating results for the governorship elections in Lagos and Ogun states.

In a surprising turn, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun lost the polling unit of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole. Nevertheless, Abiodun emerged victorious in his own polling unit, winning by a slim margin of five votes ahead of his closest rival, Ladi Adebutu. Abiodun is seeking re-election in the ongoing election process.

The governorship election held in 28 of the 36 states of Nigeria, including Ogun State, has been characterized by an anxious wait for results as INEC begins the process of uploading the election outcomes. As the collation continues, candidates and their supporters eagerly await the final results to determine the winners of the electoral race.

In Ogun State, the governorship election has been described as a three-horse race, with top contenders battling for victory. As the results are being collated, the election has garnered significant attention from citizens and observers alike.

The outcome of the Ogun State governorship election will profoundly impact the state’s political landscape and governance structure.
