Nollywood thespian Tonto Dike is back in the news and this time she is speaking on the career choices she had before opting to start appearing on the Big screens while making some revelations in the process.
Make of this news what you will, but actress Tonto Dikeh recently revealed that she nearly became a pastor as she was growing up. According to Tonto Dikeh, who served as a cell leader, she was raised in the church. She described how the morals she was raised with still influence her now in an Instagram post. She said that despite her job’s demands and the extent of her exposure, she values decency and finds wearing skimpy clothing uncomfortable.
“I grew up in church… I was a cell leader. I was a department assistant. I almost became a pastor. I still have a 70% village mentality. I’m so uncomfortable with revealing clothing. I just cld never learn it.”
In the recently completed Rivers state gubernatorial election, the well-known Nollywood actress-turned-politician had served as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate’s running mate. She has also reaffirmed her dedication to politics after the election’s results were announced. This was announced by the actress in a thank-you note to her followers on Instagram.
Recall that media reports claimed the actress and her principal withdrew from the campaign in order to support Tonye Cole, a candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC). The actress added that it has always been about integrity more than party and complimented her colleague Funke Akindele for advocating for Lagos State.
Tonto had continued by saying,
“The 2023 General Election has been an incredible journey, filled with both triumphs and disappointments. But as I reflect on the experience, I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it all, especially for being considered the Deputy Governorship candidate under the prestigious platform of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) with his Excellency, Hon. @tonteibraye I do not take this for granted. As the 2023 Election concludes with a newly elected leader, I want to urge everyone to ensure we prioritize the peace and prosperity of our darling Rivers State over our emotions. for the unity and development of our country Nigeria. because only together, we can make a difference.
