Pere Egbi Biography

Pere “Perez” Oghenemaro Egbi was born on June 27, 1985 in Warri, Delta State. He is a member of the Urhobo tribe, which is located in Delta State. He is the eldest of two children in his family. Pere received his primary and secondary education in Warri, where he was born and raised. After that, he moved to Lagos and enrolled in Command Secondary School, Lagos. Upon completing his secondary education, Pere travelled to the United States to attend the University of Texas and joined the US military afterwards. He graduated with a degree in Nursing and is now a certified professional nurse.

Pere joined the sixth season of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) as a housemate in the “Shine Ya Eye” edition. This season was the second to be held during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pere was introduced into the house as a “wild card” by the show’s organizers, which means he joined the show as an additional housemate after the stipulated number of contestants. If his fellow housemates had successfully executed Big Brother’s task and discovered who he was, he would have been eliminated from the show. However, he and Maria, the other wildcard contestant, managed to conceal their identities from their other housemates and made their way through, earning a continued stay in the house after the first week.

Pere quickly gained a reputation for being a strict personality who wouldn’t tolerate irrational behaviour or deceitful actions from others. His fellow housemates dubbed him “The General” because of his previous military experience and his authoritative demeanour.

During his tenure as the Head of the House, he enforced strict discipline akin to a military regime. He frowned upon indiscipline and created a scene when he asked WhiteMoney, the resident chef, to relinquish his kitchen duties to another housemate. The actor believed that WhiteMoney was using his culinary skills and home maintenance assignment as a strategy to gain favour from the show’s fans and secure their votes.

During the TV show, the actor had a romantic “situationship” with Maria, another contestant.
