Akpororo Biography

 Jephthah Bowoto, long famous by the adopted stage name Akpororo, is a Nigerian comedian, vocalist, and actor. He grew up in Warri, Delta state, Nigeria, but had to move to Lagos at the instance of his mother.

The gift of comedy was there all along, but it wasn’t until the 2000s that it began to take root nationally. Recalling his rise to fame, he would note that the first person that employed him to perform promised a fee of N1,000 but ended up paying only N600.

In 2008, he won the Opa Williams-organised National Comedy Challenge for the Calabar zone. That put him on a pedestal of sorts from which he pushed to the position he is today – one of the most visible faces in Nigerian comedy.

Family

The celebrated comedian’s immediate family comprises himself, his wife Josephine, and the three children of the marriage. The couple had a daughter first, followed by twins.
