Nicki Minaj Makes History As First Female Rapper To Hit A Billion Streams In 2024
Commercial success is nothing new for Nicki Minaj, and it doesn’t seem like it will end anytime soon. Even though 2024 is only two months old, she has already accomplished something remarkable. She has amassed 1 billion Spotify plays across all of her credits in 2024 alone. She is now the first female rapper of the year to accomplish that feat.
Most of the streams probably originate from her most recent album, Pink Friday 2. “FTCU” and “Everybody” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, two tracks from the album, are still hanging around the Hot 100 this week. Probably another significant portion of streaming originates from her song “Big Foot,” which is the sole new song she actually put out in 2024. The track, directed by Megan Thee Stallion, was a reaction to some of the lyrics from Meg’s latest song, “HISS.” With less than a week of tracking, “Big Foot” made an impressive debut in the top 30. However, it completely disappeared off the charts in the ensuing weeks and hasn’t come back. As of right now, “HISS” has received just under 11 million Spotify plays, and it is quickly getting close to 50 million.
Nicki Minaj will embark on her Pink Friday 2 tour later this year. When the tour was first announced, it was already a significant undertaking, and she has already added more dates to the schedule. Fans are already quite excited about the tour. Even before the pre-sale was over, Nicki flaunted how popular the tour was by revealing that it was her best-selling tour to date. The fact that Nicki decided to play Wireless Festival rather than another London show had some of her London-based fans feeling let down. However, Nicki used social media to promote her Wireless festival set and give an explanation for her decision.
