Superstar Wizkid has admitted that he despises press releases and other forms of musical promotion. In a recently discovered old video from 2021, the songster, a significant character in the modern Afrobeats music industry, boasted about recording massive hit songs like “Ojuelegba,” “Holla at Your Boy,” and others while sitting around the studio.
The Grammy-winning artist dislikes media runs because he prefers to take the easy route. He added that he doesn’t need to promote his music since he knows what his audience wants and provides it to them. The most ‘awarded African performer’ claimed he is not suited for stress but instead loves to ‘chill’ (relax, take things easy, and have fun). Big Wiz said,
“All my biggest songs from Holla at your Boy’ to Soko, Joro, Ojuelegba, I recorded sitting down,” “You know how my thing be for Lagos, you’ve been in my house. You know wagwan, I’m chilling. I’m chilling, man. You get me? No stress.
“You see promo, I hate doing that shit. You know press, I hate doing all that shit bro. So like, I knew exactly what the people wanted, like I understand.”
The frontline performer and owner of starboy entertainment, who recently made headlines after unfollowing everyone on Instagram save for Naira Marley, subscribes to the “soft life” maxim and is unwilling to veer away from it.
