A Tribute Concert For Shane MacGowan And Sinéad O’Connor Announced

The City Winery in New York City has organized a memorial show in March to honour the late Shane MacGowan and Sinéad O’Connor. The “Sinéad & Shane at Carnegie Hall” tribute event is scheduled for March 20. Limited VIP packages are already available on the performance’s website, and regular admission passes will go on sale on January 22. Some of MacGowan and O’Connor’s musical acquaintances will honour their memory with song covers during the Carnegie Hall concert. Dropkick Murphys, Cat Power, David Gray, Amanda Palmer, Glen Hansard, Eugene Hütz, Gordon Gano, The Mountain Goats, Bettye Lavette, Julia Cumming, Kat Edmonson, and the Resistance Revival Chorus are among the acts scheduled to appear thus far. It is anticipated that more artists will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

In July of last year, Sinéad O’Connor passed away at the age of 56. Following O’Connor’s passing, a number of celebrities, including Michael Stipe, Garbage, and Billy Corgan, sent their respects. Bob Geldof and Bono were among the attendees at her funeral in Dublin. The renowned frontman of The Pogues, Shane MacGowan, passed away on November 30 at the age of 65 from pneumonia in a hospital. It happened after he was found to have encephalitis and had been unwell.

In addition to regular admission tickets, unique VIP packages bearing the names of the two artists’ greatest hits have also been revealed. Among these are the “Nothing Compares 2 U” package, which entails working with producer and City Winery founder/CEO Michael Dorf on the show’s setlist, and “A Pair of Brown Eyes,” which includes, among other things, access to a five-course dinner with all participating artists, admission to the concert, rehearsals, and a spot for two onstage during the grand finale.
