Netizens have reacted to the news that the most followed Nigerian star on social media is David Adeleke, also known as Davido, who recently became a Grammy nominee. Across numerous social media sites, the artist has 56.1 million total followers. Top Charts Africa, a business that provides entertainment statistics, placed the “OBO” crooner at the top of their list, which they issued on Tuesday.
With 38.6 million followers, Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy is ranked second, closely followed by Wizkid, who has 38.4 million followers. Afropop sensations Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage are tied for fourth place with 34.3 million followers each.
Actress Mercy Johnson (33.5 million followers), music executive Don Jazzy (30.1 million followers), singer Simi (29.9 million followers), skit maker Mark Angel (29.7 million followers), and actress Regina Daniels (28.7 million followers) complete the top ten in that order. The list was based on followers across four major social media platforms: Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok.
The remaining nine people on the list are actress Regina Daniels (28.7 million followers), singer Simi (29.9 million followers), content creator Mark Angel (29.7 million followers), music executive Don Jazzy (30.1 million followers), and actress Mercy Johnson (33.5 million followers). The list was compiled using the number of followers on each of the four main social media networks: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and TikTok.
