Mavin artiste, Johnny Drille, is in the mood for a little throwback.
The singer shared a clip from the performance video of a song he worked on with fellow singer and Mavin signee Ayra Starr, also the only woman signed to the label. Their joint song was “In The Light,” which is taken from his debut album, “Before We Fall Asleep.” The 14-track album was released last year, 2021, to very positive reviews from music critics. The album also entered Apple Music Nigeria’s top albums chart.
The album served features from guest artists on songs that we would have never thought possible. He brought his boss, Don Jazzy, Styl-Plus, Ladipoe, the iconic Lagos Community Choir, and Ayra on the remarkable record. A year has passed since then, and the singer has returned to show his gratitude for the record he made a year ago. In the tweet he made, which served as the caption of a short video clip, he claimed to be grateful for whom he made the record with and for the possibility of releasing the record.
One thing about Johnny is that when it comes to making albums, he gives the creative process his all. You can tell this from his great renditions on “Chapter X,” the Mavin all-star album created to celebrate the successful 10-year run of Mavin Records.
