Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” Plays During TNT’s NBA Playoffs Halftime

The world of hip-hop is buzzing with Kendrick Lamar’s recent release of a diss track aimed at Drake. The city of Los Angeles, already on edge with the recent elimination of the Lakers from the playoffs and the Clippers battling to stay alive against the Dallas Mavericks, was caught off guard by Lamar’s timely release of “Euphoria” at 8:24 am on May 1st. Some Angelinos speculated that the release was a tribute to the late Laker Kobe Bryant. The drama continued during the TNT halftime show of the Clippers and Mavericks game on May 1st, when Lamar’s unexpected and aggressive diss track was played. This caught the halftime panel, consisting of Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson, completely off guard. The panel was visibly surprised and started laughing and joking about being caught in the middle of the rap feud.

During the show, the TNT crew watched as their screens lit up with Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria.” They listened intently as Lamar’s third beat switch blared through the speakers, with K. Dot calling Drake a terrible father, among other things. Shaq and Kenny Smith laughed at the unexpectedness of it all, with Smith joking that the network needed to play Drake’s “Push Ups” to keep a neutral stance.

Shaq, who previously commented on the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle on his podcast, expressed his hope that the conflict would remain solely on the music front and not escalate into violence. “I just hope it doesn’t go into all that other stuff,” he added. “You know, ‘My crew see your crew, and we start fighting and shooting and all that.'”

The rivalry between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has been ongoing for some time, and it’s evident that both artists are not afraid to take shots at each other through their music. While it remains to be seen where this feud will go next, it’s clear that the world of hip-hop is paying close attention to the actions of these two titans of the genre.
