Naomi Osaka, the four-time Grand Slam singles champion, and her rapper boyfriend Cordae have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in Los Angeles. The news was confirmed by multiple sources, marking a new chapter in the lives of the successful couple.
Osaka, 25, and Cordae had announced in January that they were expecting their first child. The tennis star had shared a sonogram photo on Instagram with a caption that read, “Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023.” In June, she confirmed that they were expecting a daughter.
The birth of their daughter comes at a time when both Osaka and Cordae are enjoying successful careers in their respective fields. Osaka, a former world No.1, has won four major championships and is known for her powerful and aggressive playing style. Cordae, on the other hand, is a Grammy-nominated rapper known for his thoughtful lyrics and dynamic performances.
Despite her pregnancy, Osaka has remained focused on her career and has expressed her intention to return to the court in 2024. In a television interview with former ATP player Shuzo Matsuoka, she revealed her ambitions for the Paris Olympics in 2024. “I found out I was pregnant and I was like, okay, I’m definitely going to be a better player after this,” she said. “For me, it just made me want to try harder and be the best that I can be. I want to try to win the Olympics next year. It makes me very excited to return to the sport.”
While the couple has not yet revealed the name of their newborn baby, Osaka had hinted at some unique baby name choices earlier this year. “We have been discussing names. I would say that we are going for something more unique than traditional,” she told People.
