Tems Releases The Aesthetic Self-Directed Visuals To Her Smash Hit, “Love Me Jeje”

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Tems, directs and performs karaoke in the newly-released music video for her latest hit, “Love Me Jeje.”

The song, which interpolates the same-titled 1997 Nigerian hit by Seyi Sodimu, is scheduled to be included on the performer’s eagerly awaited first album Born in the Wild. In the “Love Me Jeje” video, which honors Tems’ native Lagos, Nigeria, Sodimu also makes an appearance.

At the start of the video, the singer is seen settling down at a karaoke venue where the song has been loaded onto the television set. As a director, she brings attention to Lagos’s architecture and culture by showcasing sweating dancers moving through the night alongside delighted families doing hair braids and strolling down the street.

Spax and Guiltybeatz produced the song, which had lyrics written by the singer. Although Tems has not yet disclosed an official release date or tracklist, Born in the Wild is scheduled to be released this month. Although she has also released the one-off singles “Me & U” and “Not An Angel,” “Love Me Jeje” serves as the album’s lead single.

A little teaser that Tems first released for the album focused on her connection with Lagos. The artist followed up her 2020 release of For Broken Ears, her debut EP, with the release of If Orange Was a Place in 2021.
