Tems Gets Cozy In Her New Romantic Single, “Love Me Jeje”

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Tems, has finally released her highly-anticipated new single, “Love Me Jeje.”

Expectations for Tems’ new single ‘Love Me Jeje’ were pretty high when she teased the song during her Coachella 2024 performance. Today, April 26 the singer released “Love Me Jeje,” in which she expertly samples the legendary 1997 Nigerian ballad of the same name by Seyi Sodimu featuring singer-turned-actress, Shaffy Bello.

Tems’s new song, which she released in 2024, follows her guesting on Tyla’s “NO. 1,” one of the tracks off the South African sensation’s self-titled first album. Her third lead single, “Love Me Jeje,” was released in December 2023 after “Not An Angel” and “Me and U.”

She also incorporates nostalgic lyrics from Seyi Sodimu’s classic into the mid-tempo track, which features Highlife chords and arrangement along with African percussion. Tems says she wanted to honor the classic when she decided to sample Sodimu’s 1997 album for her Coachella 2024 performance.

Expectations for her upcoming debut album are heightened by her new tune, which she revealed during her Coachella performance. To increase excitement for the record, a private listening event was also arranged in Lagos. Tems has definitely emerged as one of Africa’s top musical exports after making her breakthrough on the global stage in 2020 with her electric performance on Wizkid’s “Essence.”
