WurlD Releases A New Single, “Sarafina,” In Advance Of His Upcoming EP, “Don’t Get Used To This”

WurlD, a Nigerian singer-songwriter, just dropped a new song called “Sarafina.”

In “Sarafina,” a masterful display of WurlD’s particular AfroSoul sound, the singer waxes poetic about a seductive new love over a whimsical, seductive beat that Drizz and WurlD co-produced. Since breaking the AfroSoul wave in 2016 with “Show You Off” (with Shizzi and Walshy Fire), WurlD has been a major influence in music. The song was praised for bringing a new musical element to the then-emerging Afrobeats style.

WurlD, who was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, but has spent the majority of his career splitting his time between Atlanta and L.A., has effortlessly bridged the gap between Afrobeats and R&B, writing songs for and working with musicians like B.O.B., Akon, Mario, and Davido, for whom he co-wrote his 2019 hit “Blow My Mind” featuring Chris Brown.

The “Don’t Get Used To This” project demonstrates WurlD’s growth as a producer, songwriter, and vocalist. It’s also his most rhythmically steady project to date, infused with the peculiar energy of Lagos, Nigeria, where he’s just recently moved back to live.

The EP is his first release under Addictive Content, a new imprint he founded to highlight the upcoming musical styles and African artists. “Don’t Get Used To This” is a love project that emphasizes living in the present, according to WurlD.
